Synopsis:
The STDN Ranging Equipment (SUE) course is designed to train selected
technicians in the operation, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance
of the SUE Ranging System. These objectives are accomplished by analysis
of the system configuration, block diagrams, terminal display and control
pages; in- depth discussion of key points pertaining to schematic and logic
diagrams that are applicable to the module/card; and testing, alignment,
waveform observation, trouble analysis and repair to the component/card
level of all Ranging Equipment (RE) units to include the following:
-
Input/output interface: Internal Micro Controller (IMC) to/from the RE
drawers, slave controller and the S-band Tracking Processing System (STPS).
-
Range acquisition.
-
Doppler counting.
-
Range simulator.
-
Doppler simulator.
-
Control logic.
-
SC Modulator and Demodulator.
-
Phase- lock Loop Microprocessor (8031 MPU).
-
Range Counter Microprocessor (8088 MPU).
-
Tarc, Larc and Sarc Microprocessor (8748 MPU).
-
Internal Micro Controller (IMC -8088 MPU).
Prerequisites: Prospective students must have:
-
Satisfactorily completed a formal electronic course that included ac/dc
and RF theory, transistor circuit analysis, and integrated circuit theory.
-
A knowledge of digital logic symbology and associated logic circuit operation
and functions.
