TDRSS Orientation and System Data Flow

Synopsis: 

The TDRSS Orientation and System Data Flow course is designed to introduce network personnel and customers to the fundamental functions and operations of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS). The course includes discussions of the following: 

  • Introduction to the STDN.
  • TDRSS Space Segment.
  • TDRSS Ground Terminals.
  • Data Interface System (DIS).
  • NASA Intergrated Services Network (NISN)
  • Data Systems Management Center (DSMC).
  • Mission Operations Centers (MOCs).
  • Flight Dynamics Facility (FDF).
  • Supporting Elements
Course objectives are accomplished through structured classroom discussion, including analysis of system block diagrams and descriptions of forward and return link services provided by the TDRSS. Each student will be provided a student workbook for classroom participation and reference. 

Prerequisites: 

  • None; however, it should be noted that this course is intended for technical personnel. Some technical topics are introduced and the lesson pace is brisk.
